Peel and X1 Announces first residential scheme for Chatham Waters
Award winning X1 Developments has been given the green light to develop the first residential development at Peel Land and Property’s visionary Chatham Waters regeneration project in Kent.
Positioned on the site of the former naval dockyard, this exciting and contemporary waterfront development will bring 199 one, two and three bed luxury apartments within a 14 storey block overlooking the Medway Estuary.
The Open Market sale development by X1 kick-starts Peel’s residential plans for its 25 acre Strategic Waters site which is proposed to bring a further 513 apartments and 238 affordable dwellings.
Director of Residential Development for Peel Land and Property, Neil Baumber said: “X1 Developments has an excellent track record in developing high quality apartments for open market sale and this fantastic residential development will firmly put Chatham Waters on the map as an attractive waterfront location to live. Equally, its close proximity to London means residents can enjoy a 40 minute commute into central London.”
Construction on the new apartment block is due to commence early in 2018 and follows a number of developments on Chatham Waters including an Asda superstore, a new Medway University Technical College and the recently opened Marston’s family restaurant and pub all of which is transforming the historic dockland into an attractive place to live, work and play.
Nick Sweeney from X1 Developments added: “We are delighted to have gained full planning consent for this exciting development and the extremely positive feedback from the planning committee members was very rewarding. With a commanding waterfront location this development, which will feature a spacious private residents’ garden and a residents’ gym as well as retail opportunities along the pedestrianised waterside promenade, raises the bar for residential developments in the area.”
DK Architects have been appointed.
